Antique Brunswick Portable Phonograph Victrola 1923 Picture(s) and Description:
Antique 1923 * Brunswick Portable Phonograph * Wind-up Victrola Antique 1923 Brunswick Portable Phonograph ~ Wind-up Victrola Excellent Working Condition We offer for your consideration an antique wind-up portable Brunswick phonograph made in 1923. Excellent working condition, complete with reproducer, arm, stylus, wind-up crank, record pouch, needle compartment, and extra needles. All parts are original. The victrola measures 15 1/4" x 12" x 8 1/4" and weighs 18 pounds. The front of the record pouch is signed: "Brunswick, Made in U.S.A. Reg. U.S. Pat. Off. and Canada Marca REGTRDA, Marca Ind. REGTRDA No. 21848. 13 Feb 1923." A metal plate on the interior reads "Model 102, Brunswick Phonographs and Records, Number 120502." The reproducer is signed "Manufactured by the Brunswick Balke Co., For Use Only On Brunswick Phonographs, Patent Pending No. 3." The condition is exceptional for its age. Except for the exterior of the case which has a few dings (see Photos), I can find no damage other than insignificant scratches or age wear from normal use. The wind-up crank turns easily and the turntable keeps a steady pace and plays records smoothly and evenly. Photos #3 and 4 show a blurry record label while it's playing. We are including a 78 rpm record with the sale so that you can test the working condition when it arrives. Please enlarge our Photos to fully appreciate the excellent condition. We will be wrapping and packaging the phonograph with great care and shipping it fully insured by either UPS or USPS Priority. Pick-up is an option for local buyers. Depending on your location, we may even be willing to meet you halfway for a small fee (probably less than shipping cost and insurance). Please feel free to email any questions, and we'll do our best to answer them although we are not experts. We were told that this was one of the earliest portable victrolas made. It is a must-have for the serious collector. Although we are setting a low reserve to protect our investment, this phonograph will eventually be sold to the highest bidder (within reason) even if the reserve is not met. In the event that the reserve has not been met by the end of this 7 day auction, we will re-start the auction for 3 more days, starting at the amount of the high bid, but this time with No Reserve. So have fun bidding and we'll see where it goes ... if there is legitimate interest, it will go home with the high bidder. Low Starting Bid ~ Low Reserve! Good luck with your bidding ~ and thanks for stopping by! Please understand that the shipping cost provided is an ESTIMATE ONLY. Accurate cost will be emailed at auction end when exact packaged weight, size of shipping container, amount of insurance needed (selling price), and most appropriate shipping carrier for destination are known. We accept Paypal instant bank transfers (preferred), Paypal-accepted credit cards, and Paypal e-checks (4-5 day clearing period required before shipment). Please contact us for alternatives if you do not have a Paypal account. Please do not pay through the eBay end-of-auction/sale email, as shipping costs listed in the description are often overestimated. We will calculate accurate costs when destination and final package weight and measurements are known, and will send you an invoice through the eBay message system shortly after the listing closes. Please pay through that invoice. Payment is expected within 48 hours after listing closes, unless other arrangements are made by email. If payment is not received in a timely manner, an eBay "friendly reminder" will be sent. We reserve the right to re-list the item or extend a "second chance offer" to the next highest bidder if payment is still not received in another four days. Please do not bid on an item if you do not intend to purchase it. If cleared payment is received by 11:00 a.m. (EST) Monday through Friday, your item will be shipped on the SAME day. SHIPPING COSTS: The cost quoted by eBay's shipping calculator will include the insurance fee ($1.75) on any breakable item, delivery confirmation (tracking) fee ($.70) on shipping methods other than Priority, and a $.75 handling fee to help cover the substantial cost of packing materials. On items costing over $250, Paypal requires signature delivery confirmation ($1.95), which would also be included in the calculated shipping cost if applicable. Shipping cost listed in description is an ESTIMATE ONLY based upon final weight and package measurements, and the shipping destination, carrier, and method. We will email an invoice with accurate shipping costs shortly after the auction/sale ends, through the eBay message system. Please do not make payment until receiving our invoice, as shipping costs in the listing are often overestimated. COMBINING MULTIPLE ITEMS: We'll be happy to combine shipping to save Buyer shipping costs whenever possible, provided we can find an appropriate-sized box, and we feel that the items can be safely packaged together without damaging one another in transit. Please notify us immediately after the first listing closes, that you are bidding on another item. We'll hold off packing your purchase until the second listing ends, then notify you of the combined shipping cost on one invoice shortly thereafter. SHIPPING METHODS: We primarily use USPS Priority Mail because shipping containers are free and delivery confirmation (tracking) is free. We'll be happy to accommodate your request for Parcel Post shipping, but we caution that if your package is traveling to the Mid-West or West Coast, shipping time can actually be closer to 4-6 weeks than the 7-10 days the USPS website states. Media Mail can be used for certain printed material, music, or movies (see USPS rules) -- but again, we caution that actual delivery time may be 3-4 weeks longer than the time stated on the USPS website. First Class Mail can be used only if the package weighs less than 13 ounces. Items will be prepared for Priority shipping unless an alternate method is requested immediately upon auction/sale closing. UPS is usually preferable for shipping any extra fragile, large, or heavy items. For shipping a heavy package to far destinations like the West Coast or Canada, UPS shipping is generally less expensive than USPS Priority. We will always offer the Buyer the most appropriate and cost effective shipping method available. INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS: Please email us with your city, country and zip code for approximate shipping costs, BEFORE placing a bid. Be aware that any taxes, surcharges and customs duties imposed by your country are the Buyer's responsibility and are not included in the purchase price or shipping cost quoted. You can obtain those costs by calling your country's customs office. Please do not ask us to falsify customs forms by stating that the item is a gift or by understating its value. All items are guaranteed to be as described in the listing. BEFORE placing your bid, please carefully read the entire item description and view all photos, then email us with any questions or requests for additional photos. We will answer promptly. (Please note that if you are requesting more photos, we will need your email address because photos cannot be sent through the eBay message system.) RETURNS: If we have inadvertently misrepresented an item in the description, we will issue a full refund, provided the item is returned to us within 3 days in the same container and packing materials, with insurance and delivery confirmation. Please email us first with your intention to return the item. We also accept returns for ANY reason, including buyer remorse, if the item is returned under the above conditions, with the exception that the refund made will EXCLUDE original shipping costs and eBay/Paypal fees expended for the listing/selling of the item. FEEDBACK: We work diligently to earn your "5-Star" rating and positive feedback. Even though the feedback page states that a "4-Star" rating is good, we hard-working eBay sellers strive for an EXCELLENT 5-Star rating for each transaction, because eBay helps their highly rated sellers keep prices low by giving them discounted fees. If you feel that you've purchased a quality item which was accurately described, and that we sent your invoice in a timely manner, communicated our policies well, carefully wrapped and shipped your item within one business day of receiving cleared payment, and sent you a thank you and a tracking number -- then please give us a 5-Star feedback rating. Thanks! (Please do not give a poor rating in the Shipping category just because shipping rates are high -- obviously we cannot control the rates.) We consider an auction/sale complete when you have received your purchase and notified us via positive feedback that you are satisfied with the transaction. We'll normally return the positive feedback within 24 hours. We are 30-some-year avid treasure hunters, with special interests in American and European art pottery, Depression and art glass, toys, and military items. In November of this year we'll have completed thirteen years of successful eBay selling. You'll find we are honest and easy to deal with, so you can bid/buy with confidence that any potential problem will be worked out to everyone's satisfaction. We're proud of our 100% positive feedback rating and intend to keep it that way. We are not experts, but we research every item we offer for sale, and provide very detailed descriptions and photos from every angle, with particular attention to any perceived flaws or damage. Still, if there's something we've overlooked or can clarify for you, please don't hesitate to contact us with questions or requests for additional photos. Above all, we want you to feel comfortable knowing exactly what you're bidding on, and not be disappointed with your purchase. We pack every purchase with tender loving care, and that is an understatement. Everything we offer is vintage, antique, or irreplaceable, and we have a great respect for its age and character, and for what it must mean to the Buyer. We do not skimp on packing materials or try to squeeze items into too-small shipping containers with not enough room for packing materials. We enjoy selling in the "true auction" format -- with a low starting bid and no reserve -- let the market set the value! Please don't ask us to end an auction early with "Best Offer" or "Buy It Now" ... we don't want to be unfair to the other bidders out there. Please bookmark our online store by clicking "Save This Seller" at the top right of any listing page, and check back often, because we usually add new listings daily. You can receive our Email Newsletter about new items and special promotions, by clicking on "Store Newsletter" in the left-hand column of our Store Home Page. Go to our store home page by clicking on "See Other Items" at the top right of any listing page. We also have a "Seek and Find" service -- just email us with your collecting interests, and we will actively search for your treasures and notify you when we find what you're looking for! We attend estate sales, flea markets, auctions and yard sales every week (OK, we're addicted!) It's all part of the fun of collecting, and that's what eBay should be all about for both Buyers and Sellers! We prefer to communicate with bidders and buyers through the eBay message system, simply because emails might get lost in junk mail folders or overlooked in the sea of spam most of us get. To contact us, just click on "Ask Seller a Question" at the top of the item listing page, or on "Contact Seller" on your My eBay page after you've purchased an item. Occasionally the eBay system has been known to delay or fail to deliver a message. If we have not answered your email within a reasonable time, please try sending it directly to our email address, email@example.com.
